Leni Robredo served as the Vice President of the Philippines from the second half of 2016 to the first half of 2022. From 2017 to 2022, the budget of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) averaged ₱656.3 million.

When Sara Duterte assumed the vice presidency in 2022, the OVP’s budget for 2023 increased to ₱2.3 billion. This amount excludes the controversial ₱125 million confidential fund, which was spent in just 11 days.

Duterte has proposed a budget of ₱2.037 billion for the OVP for 2025, an increase from the current year’s budget of ₱1.885 billion.

During the first hearing of House Appropriations Committee, however, Duterte failed to provide direct answers to questions from lawmakers. The situation worsened when Duterte and her staff did not attend the second hearing. Consequently, the committee twice deferred the approval of Duterte's proposed budget.
